Abstract
461,074. Protectors for boots and shoes. WHITEHEAD, J. June 29, 1935, No. 18637. [Class 17 (iii)] A wearing pad or protector for the sole or heel of a boot or shoe comprises a pad 2 of rubber or other material of circular or heel shape in one or more layers of material secured by screws 7 to a backing plate 4. A central screw 5 passing through the pad and plate 4 secures the protector to the heel 6 or sole and one or more staples 8 or similar fastenings are passed through one or more of a series of pairs of holes in the plate 4 and engage the heel or sole to maintain the pad or protector in a position, from which, after wear, it may be moved, e.g. to the other heel or, if round, it may be rotated and re-secured, in a new position. A number of such circular pads may be secured upon a sole as sole protectors. The opening 2a in the centre of the pad may be filled with an anti-skid material. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 3576/90, [Class 17], and 247,850, [Class 17 (iii)].
