[Class 122 (iii)] [See also Group XXVIII] Fluid pressure pumps, engines, or compressors have rotary cylindrical drums 3, 4 in which pistons 3<1>, 4<1> reciprocate and simultaneously rotate in a circular path by means of a crank drive consisting of two or more discs 13, 14, 15 mounted in the casing connected by eccentric pins 11, 12 upon which the pistons are mounted. Rectangular chambers 5, 6 are provided in the drums in which the pistons 31, 4<1> reciprocate. The cylindrical paths traversed by the cranks intersect the axis of the drum. The disc 15 carries a driving-pulley 16. The piston chambers may be of circular or other section. The drums 3, 4 have toothed edges 17, 18 connected by gear-wheels 19, 20 on a shaft 22. Suction and pressure chambers 23, 24 are provided in the construction shown. A construction is described with a single drum. In this case gear-wheels of different sizes connect teeth on the drum and on one of the crank discs. In a two-drum modification, the drums are connected by a ring in which rotates a disc eccentrically bored to house the central crank disc. Packing-rings are arranged between the rubbing surfaces. The pistons rotate at twice the speed of the drums.
