458,333. Driving reciprocating pumps and compressors. CROSSLEY-PREMIER ENGINES, Ltd., and YEATES, A. C., Sandiacre, near Nottingham. Feb. 18, 1936, No. 4888. [Classes 8 (i) and 102 (i)] An oil or gas driven pump or compressor in which two cranks a, b, are arranged at an angle of 180‹ to each other are connected to opposed cylinders c, c<1>, and d, d<1>, of the engine and a crank e in line with the crank a is connected to the opposed cylinders f, f of a pump or compressor. The reciprocating masses in the cylinders d, d<1> are chosen to balance those in the other cylinders and the distances g, h are chosen to obtain a couple balance.
