[Class 29] Absorption machines.-The vapour returning from the evaporator 8 to the generatorabsorber 1 during the absorption phase of a reversing system is led through an extended pipe surface 2a in the vapour space of the generator-absorber, to promote rapid cooling of the residual vapour, before it enters the liquid by the usual perforated pipe 2. The evaporator is used for cooling milk &c. caused to flow over its surface, and is provided with a volume reducer or filler 9 so that a large surface of liquefied refrigerant is available. The apparatus may have a four-way cock 3 at the junction of the expulsion pipes 4, 4a, and the return vapour pipes 2a, 2b, and includes a rectifier 5 and condenser 6.
