Abstract
453,214. Thermionic cathodes. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. Nov. 29,1934, No. 34357. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, June 11, 1935]. [Class 39 (i)] In an indirectly-heated cathode the heater and the electron-emitting material are insulated from each other and are connected by a material having good conducting or conveying properties. As shown in Fig. 1, the electron-emitting material 4 is arranged around one end of a copper body 1, and the heating coil 2 is mounted on mica 3 around the other end ; or the material 4 may be arranged in a slot in the end of the body. A reflecting cylinder 6 surrounds the heater and the body 1, but not the material 4. As shown in Fig. 3, heat is conveyed to the electron-emitting material 12 on a glass tube 10 by mercury vapour, a heating coil 11 for the mercury 13 being mounted around the outer end of the tube.
