Abstract
430,853. Thermionic valves. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, 29, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. April 27, 1934, No. 12783. Convention date, July 13, 1933. [Class 39 (i)] In indirectly heated cathodes wherein the cathode body is composed wholly or in part of copper or silver, the inner surface of the body or the surface of the heater or both these surfaces are coated with a material whose thermal emissivity approximates to that of a perfectly black body; or the heater itself is made wholly or in part of such material. The material may be of vanadium trioxide, nickel oxide or carbon. In one construction a rod of magnesium oxide is immersed in a paste of material known under the Registered Trade Mark as " Aquadag " and the rod is then rotated inside a copper body ; after the paste has dried on the body it is coated with vanadium trioxide. A tube of magnesium oxide, aluminium oxide or quartz is then inserted in the body and the filament which may be coated with insulation is placed in the insulating tube. In another construction an insulating tube inside the body is coated with graphite or vanadium trioxide.
