452,573. Condensers. PORZELLANFABRIK KAHLA, Kahla, Thuringia, Germany. Jan. 25, 1935, No. 2540. Convention date, Jan. 26, 1934. [Class 38 (ii)] An adjustable condenser comprises a fixed or variable main unit associated with a trimming plate which can be rotated relative to the armature of the main condenser, both being held by a common bolt. The dielectric of the main condenser is of inorganic and preferably ceramic material of low loss and high dielectric constant while that of the trimming condenser is of either inorganic or organic material of low loss, high dielectric constant being not so essential. In the example. Figs. 1 and 2, fused-on coatings 16, 17 on ceramic plates 11, 12 and a sickle-edged coating 20 on a plate 10 form respectively the main and trimming condensers, being held by bolt 13. Fig. 5 shows an trimming plate formed by a . complete circle of coating on a plate 50 of varying thickness. The main condenser may be adjustable as illustrated in these examples or may be formed from a packet of mica plates with metal coatings similarly held by a central bolt. Fig. 10 shows a cylindrical condenser, the inner coating 91 of which, at the end, coacts with a coating 96 on a rotatable plate 95. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a modification in which an assembly of metal coated mica plates is mounted within a ceramic casing on the outer side of which is attached a rotatable ceramic plate with a semicircular metal coating for the purpose of adjustment. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
