Abstract

451,829. Air supply to furnaces. COENEN, E. J.-B., 256, Avenue Van Volxem, Brussels. Aug. 24, 1935, No. 576/36. Convention date, April 4, 1935. Divided application. [Class 51 (i)] A conduit 29 connecting a solid fuel furnace to a central heating boiler or other heating apparatus is surrounded by a jacket 30 and between the conduit and the jacket are radial gills or ribs 29a arranged with their ends staggered in the longitudinal direction so that air under pressure which is fed into the space between the conduit and jacket at 32 is divided into two streams which traverse zigzag paths and unite at a point diametrically opposite the inlet 32 and in front of an opening 33 through which the now heated air passes into the conduit to mix with the combustion gases passing to the heater. The air is fed to the inlet 32 through a pipe 31 having a non-return valve 34. In order to be adjustable for heating apparatus of different heights the conduit 29 is attached to a plate 37 slidably mounted in guides 38 on the back of the boiler.
