450,840. Removing screw stoppers from bottles. M'GREGOR, R., 7, Church Road, East Molesey. Surrey. Jan. 19, 1935, No. 1811. [Class 61 (iii)] A device for removing screw stoppers from bottles comprises a socket 1 for engaging over the stopper which is pivotally mounted on an element 4 having serrations 6 for gripping the stopper. The socket is moved in an anticlockwise direction to get the gripping effect and in a clockwise direction to admit the stopper head. The stopper is loosened by rotating the bottle. A stop 1b prevents the element 4 from entering further into the socket. The socket may comprise two rings held together by spacing members, one ring being slightly smaller than the other and forming an abutment for the stopper head. The element 4 is screwed on to a counter &c.
