Abstract
449,119. Taps. TRITON-BELCO AKT.- GES., 13, Alter Teichweg, Hamburg, Germany. July 15, 1935, No. 20220. Convention date, Aug. 3, 1934. [Class 135] In a tap of the kind having a rotary non- reciprocating spindle d, the lower end of which is screw threaded to actuate the valve member, and a stuffing box around the top of the spindle, the handle c is freely coupled axially, by means of a key f and slot e, to the spindle, and secured to the stuffing box nut b in a freely rotatable manner so that axial movement is prevented. This connection is effected, Fig. 1, by means of a spring ring h engaging in corresponding grooves in a projecting boss of the handle and a central bore of the nut b. In a modified construction, Fig. 2, the stuffing-box nut is split into two halves, b<1> and b<2> and provided with an internally projecting flange m engaging with a groove in a cylindrical bush or boss o of the handle. In a further modification, a bush secured to the handle is formed in two halves with an inwardly projecting flange which engages a groove in the outer surface of the stuffing-box nut.
