[Class 132 (ii)] Game apparatus comprises in combination play pieces 13, 15 which are slid by magnetic means 17 over a flat play surface 1 which is supported with room beneath it for the operator's hand and has formed on it projecting or raised obstructions (pavements, buildings 5, squares 7, petrol stations 9) which form tracks along which the play pieces slide, there being further upstanding structures on the play surface (garages 12) through or under which the play pieces are manipulated by the magnet 17. Each play piece is a paper or cardboard model of a motor car 13 or pedestrian 15 on the base of which is an armature 14 ; this armature may be magnetized or non-magnetized. The playing surface of paper, card, celluloid or linen is attached to a frame 2 having pivoted supporting legs 3.. The legs may, however, be formed of spring steel wire inserted into the ends of frame 2. The device may be used as a race game, two motor cars 13 of different colour starting from one garage 12, one following the full-line course a and the other the dotted line course b. In another application, the board represents a railway and associated buildings and the play pieces are railway locomotives and carriages. In this case the raised obstructions are cuttings, fields, farms, &c. and the additional upstanding structures are stations, bridges, signal boxes. The armatures may be extended beyond the ends of the play pieces so that several play pieces may be coupled magnetically and drawn along together. The apparatus may be used as a toy or for educational or advertising purposes.
