Abstract

339,653. Storey, W. H. Sept. 12, 1929. Board games and card games. - The apparatus comprises a board having a closed track which has a plurality of " starts " and " homes " leading into it, counters to be moved along the track from a " start '' to the corresponding " home " and a pack of marked cards which may be used in various ways to denote the direction and extent of movement of the players' counters. The board 1 has a track 2 divided into squares 2<a>. Leading into the track are " starts " 3 and short tracks 6 leading to " homes " 7 which may with the counters 4 be differently coloured. Counters coming on to the first square of " slides " 5 move to the other end thereof, the movements being determined by each player turning up a card from a pack of 44 cards bearing designations 1 - - 5, 7, 8, 10 - - 12 and " Sorry " (a registered Trade Mark). Various rules for playing the game are described. The board may be hexagonal to accommodate six players or round or any other convenient shape, and it may be foldable. The tracks which may be printed or painted thereon are preferably printed on a sheet pasted over the board. The spaces 10 may be recessed or provided with holding means for the cards and the " men " or counters which may be flat discs may be provided with means to hold them on the track as in travellers' chess sets.
