Abstract
447,674. Reaping &c. machines. INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER CO. OF GREAT BRITAIN, Ltd., 259, City Road, London.- (International Harvester Co.; 606, South Michigan Avenue, Chicago, U.S.A.) Feb. 7, 1936, No. 3788. [Class 6 (iii)] A space 11 is provided between the rear edges of the knife sections 9 and the bar or strip 7 forming the knife back to leave an opening at the rear of the cutting edges of the knife sections for the escape of grass and dirt from under the sections. The knife back reciprocates in a runway and, at its rear, bears against a hardened wearing strip 10. In a modification triangular knife sections are supported some distance in front of the knife back by plate structures riveted to the knife back and having forwardly projecting tongues to which the sections are secured. The plate structures may be formed as a continuous bar and may be integral with the knife back.
