Abstract

447,071. Filling and capping ice-cream cartons. BOURNEMOUTH ICE & ICE CREAM FACTORY, Ltd., and BOON, S. J. L., 57, Palmerston Road, Boscombe, Hampshire. Nov. 10, 1934, No. 32430. [Class 125 (ii)] A machine for closuring cartons &c. comprises a capsule reservoir 35, a slide 41 for feeding the capsules therefrom, a table 18 across which the lids are fed until they reach a hole 42 through which they are dropped on to the cartons 33, and a pocket wheel 32 which brings the cartons successively under the hole 42. The lids or capsules are projected across the table by a spring 68 which urges them in the direction of feeding to a stop 45. A rear-stop 46 in the underside of the table prevents the capsule from recoiling. A pressure applying device 52 forces the lid home after it has dropped through the table. An auxiliary device 47 releases the lid if it fails to drop into a container. The device 52 is pneumatically operated. The cartons are filled with ice cream &c. from a hopper before they are advanced intermittently to the capping position.
