Abstract
447,052. Cooling or attemperating fluids. HALL & KAY, Ltd., HALL, J. H., and MYERS, A., Stockport Road, Ashtonunder-Lyne. Nov. 6, 1934, No. 31817. [Classes 29 and 64 (ii)] Air is passed through a shaft 13 containing a cooling coil 12 through which brine is circulated by a pump 9 connected to the auxiliary compartment 5 of a heat-insulated tank having a main compartment 4 communicating through a duct formed by partitions 6, 7 with the auxiliary compartment. The brine in the main compartment is maintained at a constant temperature by an evaporator coil the flow of refrigerant to which is regulated by a valve 20 controlled by a thermostat 19. The flow of the brine returning from the coil 12 is diverted into either or both of the tank compartments by a flap valve 16 controlled by a thermostat 18 in the air shaft. In another arrangement, the liquid flowing through a heat-exchanger 26, Fig. 2, is maintained at a constant temperature by liquid circulated by a pump 9 conducted to a tank having main compartments 4, 4<a>, containing cooling and heating coils 8, 22 respectively, and an auxiliary compartment 5. The flow of the liquid to the compartments 4, 4<a> is regulated by a valve 16 controlled by a thermostat 88, and the temperatures of the liquid in these compartments are maintained constant by thermostats 19, 24 controlling the supply of media to the coils 8, 22 respectively.
