Abstract
446,240. Vapour burners. OLSEN, F. V. A., 2, Bronsteds AllĂ, Copenhagen. Dec. 2, 1935, No. 33399. [Class 75 (i)] A member 4 introduced between the fuel tank 1 and the vapour burner 7 of a heating or illuminating apparatus carries an auxiliary atomizer burner for heating the burner 7 at starting. In Fig. 1, the member 4 is formed with a fuel channel 14 connecting a riser 8 dipping into the liquid fuel to the main burner and with fuel and compressed air channels 11, 12 leading to a mixing chamber 18 which discharges through an inclined atomizing orifice 10 in a direction intersecting the centre line of the intermediate member so as to impinge on the burner 7. The fuel channel 14 and fuel and air channels 11, 12 are controlled by valves 16, 13. In Fig. 3, the mixing chamber 18 is formed in an apertured cap 22 and communicates by inclined bores with fuel and air channels 28, 32 which are placed in communication with the fuel and compressed air in the fuel tank in an intermediate position of a cock 24 controlling the fuel supply to the burner 7. The main and auxiliary fuel passages in the cock may be separate or in one, fuel being admitted to the main burner shortly before the fuel and air are cut off from the auxiliary burner.
