Abstract

444,214. Reducing reflection in shop windows. SAGE & CO., Ltd., F., and HUMPHREY, F. W., 58, Gray's Inn Road, London. Dec. 20, 1934, No. 36580. [Class 116] Non-reflecting windows for shops &c., embodying one or more panes of glass curved in the vertical plane and a light-absorbing surface in front of the glass, have the lower end of the bottom curved pane terminated short of the lightabsorbing surface in order to leave a gap through which dust &c. deposited on the window, or collected in the space between the window and the lightabsorbing surface, can be removed. The window may comprise upper and lower curved panes 1, 2 with light-absorbing surfaces 6, 5, the lower pane being carried in a frame 4 stopping short of the surface 5, leaving a gap 9 communicating with a chamber within the frame 4, which chamber may house a tray 10 and may be closed by doors &c. 11. The frame may be rounded at 7 and the surface 5 may be correspondingly rounded as at 8 and may be formed to overhang the forward end 12 of the tray.
