442,156. Trueing grinding - wheels. EASTERBROOK, ALLCARD, & CO., Ltd., GARDNER, A. G., and INGER, J. W., Penistone Road, Sheffield. Aug. 3, 1934, No. 22620. [Classes 60 and 124] An apparatus for shaping abrasive wheels for grinding screwthreads comprises a diamond or other cutting element 5a carried by transverse slide members 11, 14 on a member 4 which is pivoted on a pin 4a on transverse slide members 13, 3 carried by a base 1 which can turn about a pillar 6 on a base 2. The slide member 3 is formed with a depending projection 8 engaging in a V-shaped recess 7 in the top of the pillar 6, the angle between the sides of the recess being not less than the angle between the flanks of the thread to be cut. When the pillar 6 is at the apex of the recess 7 and the cutting element has been adjusted by means of the slide 13 to the rear of the centre of the pillar 6 the convex curve between the flanks of the thread form 9 may be formed by rotating the base 1 between adjustable stops 10 on the base 2. At the end positions the slide 3 is operated between adjustable stops to cause the cutting element to cut the flanks. At the ends of the flank movements the member 4 is turned on the pin 4a to cut the base radii and the slide member 11 is then operated to cut the laterally extending surfaces 12. Scales and index pointers are provided on the various parts and slide - adjusting screws for facilitating the correct adjustments for shaping of the wheel.
