441,740. Discharge devices. TELEFUNKEN GES. FUR DRAHTLOSE TELEGRAPHIE, 12, Hallesches Ufer, Berlin. Feb. 21, 1935, Nos. 5632 and 5633. Convention dates, Feb. 23, 1934 and July 5, 1934. [Class 39 (i)] In a magnetic arrangement the discharge device is situated in a gap in the magnetic circuit which comprises a permanent magnet and a ferro-magnetic member which is adjustable to vary the field. A magnetron R, provided with a split cylindrical anode, is mounted between the poles P of the magnet and the field is varied by a shunt S which is pivoted at a, and is provided with a pointer z, co-operating with a scale SK, and with clamping or locking means. Alternatively, the shunt is moved longitudinally between the limbs of the magnet by a spindle which screws into the part B or is adjustably arranged parallel to the gap in which the magnetron is situated. In other forms a ferromagnetic member is movably arranged in a gap in one of the limbs C, or a gap in the limb is partly or wholly filled with non-ferro-magnetic material and four ferro-magnetic members are arranged on the sides of the limbs and are adapted to be moved relatively to one another to vary the length of the gap. In another form, one or both poles P are movable.
