Abstract

Alkylated naphthalenes are incorporated with chlorinated rubber. Preferably the alkyl groups contain three or four carbon atoms, e.g. naphthalenes containing propyl, isopropyl, butyl or isobutyl groups, or mixtures of these naphthalenes, are suitable. There may be added fillers, colour, resins, softeners, and, to produce a lacquer, organic solvents. In examples employing mono- and di-isobutylnaphthalene, mono-, di-, tri- and tetra-isopropylnaphthalene, and 1- and 2-methylnaphthalene, there are used as solvents toluene, xylene, and solvent-naphtha, as fillers titanium dioxide, iron oxide red, and red lead, and as a softener a substance obtained in known manner by reacting sulphur with homologues of benzene such as toluene or xylene in the presence of aluminium chloride.ALSO:Alkylated naphthalenes are incorporated with chlorinated rubber.
