Abstract
435,038. Transformers; inductances. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., Electra House, Victoria Embankment, and ROUND, H. J., Westfield, Muswell Hill, both in London. March 10, 1934, No. 7695. [Class 38 (ii)] [See also Group XXXVI] An audio-frequency transformer or choke comprises a ferromagnetic core carrying windings so arranged and connected as to be astatic as regards the leakage fluxes, the main fluxes being additive while a ring-like body of high permeability material is spaced from the core and provides a closed magnetic path surrounding the core and approximately parallel to the main field therein. Windings W1 W2, each composed of a primary and secondary section, are carried on a core formed of L-shaped laminations CL, CL2 " butted " together, the joints in the laminations being staggered and vibration being prevented by clamps U1, U2, U3, U4. The core is surrounded by a high permeability rectangular ring R, the depth of which is about equal to the coil diameter. The ends of the body R may be closed by end caps of non-magnetic material. The core may contain a small air gap and may be made of any convenient shape such as a circular form, the body R having a corresponding shape. Similar constructions can be used for chokes.
