Abstract
434,844. Coin - freed door lock. LEGGOTT, R. B., Silens Works, East Parade, Bradford, Yorkshire. June 27, 1934, No. 18926. [Class 27] Coin-slit closing-devices.-In a coin-freed lock of the kind such as is described in Specification 162,827, [Class 27], in order to prevent jamming by the insertion of a second coin while the first coin is in position to release the lock, a spring or gravity controlled piece A, Figs. 1 and 2, is pivoted to the tail piece 131 of the bolt B which carries a projection B<2> to receive the thrust of the coin when this is moved by a similar projection on a slide moved by the outside handle. Coin action, mechanical-connection; registering.-A coin in position between the projections engages the tail A<2> of the piece A and moves its top A<1> to close the coin-slit S. When the lock is provided with a counter C as shown, the projection B<2> is on a separate sliding piece T which acts against the tail B <1> of the bolt and allows the bolt to be moved by shutting the door without actuating the counter. In this case the coin-slit closing piece A is carried by the additional piece T. When the piece T is moved by the outside handle after insertion of a coin an incline T<2> thereon operates a lever C<1> of the counter C. Coin-discharging mechanism.-A Spring pawl or catch F engages indents or teeth T<3> on the piece T and retains this and the bolt in their actuated positions until the outside handle returns its actuating slide to normal position. A projection Fx on this slide trips the pawl F to allow the piece T and bolt to return to initial positions. A slight lost motion between the actuating slide and the piece T allows the coin to drop, a member fixed on the casing acting to force the coin downwards.
