Abstract
431,133. Protective arrangements. MALLORY & CO., Inc., P. R., 3029, East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, U.S.A. Sept. 29, 1933, No. 26825. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, April 13, 1934]. [Class 38 (iv)] A potential changer as described in Specifications 429,671 ; and 431,171, [Group XXXVIII] and comprising a transformer having its primary winding 14 supplied with interrupted current through a magnetic interrupter 15 and its secondary winding 25 connected through a rectifier 26 and a filter circuit 27 to high tension load terminals B+, B-, has its secondary winding 25 shunted by " a load substitution device " 33. The device 33 may comprise an envelope filled with nitrogen, hydrogen, neon or other gas and having sealed therein a pair of spaced apart electrodes. Alternatively this device may comprise a resistance the inclusion of which in the circuit is controlled by a relay coil the current in which depends upon the resistance in the load circuit. The device operates to protect the apparatus during period required after starting to allow the rectifier 26 and or the elements of the load circuit, such as the valves of a radio receiver, to reach normal operating conditions.
