Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, March 20, 1934]. Drawings to Specification. [Class 39 (i)] A gas- or vapour-filled discharge device has each of its anodes associated with electrostatic controlling means such as a grid and with a grid which has a constant potential negative with respect to the cathode. The negative grid may be located on either side of the control grid and may be connected to the anode shield, and all the negative grids may be connected together inside the device. In other forms, the control grid may be replaced by an auxiliary anode which is located within the anode shield and surrounds, or is adjacent, the anode. Resistances are connected in the grid circuits.
