Abstract
424,271. Heating by circulation of fluids. FARRER, J. O., 27, Chancery Lane, and KOCH, E. A. J., 64, Victoria Street, both in London. Aug. 15, 1933, No. 22790. [Class 64 (ii)] In a hot-water pressure heating system comprising a generator 1, flow and return pipes 3, 9, and 11 respectively, heat appliances 10, 31, an expansion vessel 20, a centrifugal pump 16 for maintaining the pressure of the system and a circulating pump 5, the expansion vessel is connected to the return pipe through an intermediate vessel 14 wherein the colder liquid sinks to the bottom and so reduces the loss of heat in the liquid passing out of the circuit when expansion occurs. A safety valve 18 is provided in a byepass 22 round the pump 16 so that on contraction of the liquid in the system, the pump feeds liquid from the expansion vessel into the system and vice versa on expansion of the liquid in the system. Cold water may be circulated to the appliances 10, 31 through a byepass 25. The supply of hot water to an appliance, e.g. 31, may be regulated by a valve 32 in the return pipe operated by a piston 33 according to the pressure in the system which depends on the speed of the pump 16.
