Abstract
423,589. Furnaces for heating glassware &c. HAILWOOD, E. A., Beacon House, Texas Street, Morley, near Leeds. July 4, 1933, No. 18896. [Class 51 (ii)] In a furnace, adapted particularly for burning colours on to glassware, of the kind comprising inner and outer relatively movable bell-like casings B, D to the space S between which heating gases are supplied, the inner bell is constructed of plates according to Specification 330,512, [Class 51 (ii)], and aligned observation apertures C, C<1> are provided in the two bells. A tube C<x> may extend inwardly from the aperture C<1> and both apertures may be fitted with heat-resisting glass windows. In the form shown, the bells B, D rest in sand seals F, F <1> on a fixed hearth A and means, such as a crane, is provided so that, on completion of the heating operation, the outer bell D may be raised, traversed to one side, and then lowered on to a second hearth A<x> on which a freshly-charged inner bell B has been placed.
