CrucibLe furnaces.-Two crucibles are heated in one furnace, a tower one a being supported by the solid fuel, while the upper one c is carried by a frame e swinging in a vertical plane. The upper crucible serves as a lid for the furnace, and has a socket. f for a bar, by which the crucible may be tilted. Gas burners h are fitted for starting the solid fuel fire, or combustion of gas may be effected in surface combustion diaphragms l. A tube j for observation and testing purposes is fitted.
