Abstract
419,852. Liquid-fuel burners. BARGEBOER, A., 112, Oude Scheveningsche Weg, The Hague. March 14, 1934, No. 8096. Convention date, March 14, 1933. [Class 75 (i).] In a liquid-fuel burner in which the fuel is sprayed by a pressure atomizer 8, a regulable quantity of the air supplied for combustion by a fan 2 through a pipe 6 is conducted through a pipe 7 having a conical end 21 directing the air inwardly towards the axis of the atomizer. In the construction shown the air enters the pipe 7 past an adjustable valve 14 arranged in front of screw blades 25 which impose a resistance on the main air current but the pipe 7 may alternatively be connected to the main air pipe in front of the throttle valve 4. The atomizer 8 may be surrounded by a cone 30 and helical blades 20, and is carried by fuel flow and return pipes 10, 11 mounted in a cylinder 13 which is adjustable angularly and axially in the end cover 17 of the pipe 6. The cover 17 also carries the supports 16 of the pipe 7 and a screw 28 for adjusting the valve 14. The angle at the apex of the cone 21 is preferably greater than 60‹. Ignition is effected by electrodes 24 supplied from a transformer 26. In large burners the cone 30 may be formed with helical blades and the pipe 7 may be adjustable relatively to the pipe 6.
