Abstract
419,715. Fluid - actuated valves. GAWA PATENT - VERWALTUNGS AKT.- GES., Schaffhausen, Switzerland.-(Assignees of Frister Akt.-Ges., R. ; 63, Edisonstrasse, Oberschõneweide, Berlin.) May 9, 1934, No. 14017. Convention date, May 9, 1933. [Class 135.] In a gas burner installation for a liquid heater with an electrically-ignited auxiliary jet e for igniting the burner B, the opening movement of the liquid cock, or the movement of a control device produced by the starting of the liquid flow, closes the circuit of an igniter d<1> and admits gas to the jet e, a thermal device i, heated by the jet, being mechanically operative for controlling the opening of the valve r of the burner B. The movements of the device i may be imparted directly or indirectly to the valve r. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 1, the diaphragm a of a liquid deficiency safety device is depressed when liquid flows in the pipe b and a rod c thereon closes contacts d and opens a valve g so that gas flows from the pipe G through a chamber p and pipes f, h to the jet e and is ignited. The device i is distended as shown and the spring-pressed valve rod k moves to break the circuit at a contact m and open the valve. Gas then passes from the chamber n through a pipe l to a jet s to provide a safety flame in the event of the liquid flow being stopped and immediately re-started and the diaphragm q is depressed to open the valve r. If the liquid flow be stopped, the rod c is raised by the diaphragm a to close the valves r, g. In a modification, the movement of the diaphragm a opens a main gas valve so that gas passes through the upper chamber of a diaphragm q, Fig. 2, and a pipe f<1> to the jet e. When the valve k is opened, gas passes through the lower chamber of the diaphragm q and a pipe l<1> to the safety jet s and the diaphragm q is depressed to open the valve r. The main valve is byepassed by a pipe v, connected to the pipe l<1> or with a port in the casing of the valve k, to maintain the safety flame until the valve k is closed.
