Abstract

1461198 Valves for burners; igniters JUNKERS & CO GmbH 15 March 1974 [16 March 1973] 11555/74 Headings F4F and F4T A gas fitting for opening and closing the gas supply to a gas-fired appliance comprises a housing formed by a base section 10, an intermediate section 11 and a cover 12 secured together by gas-tight joints, the housing containing a main valve 14, a pilot gas valve 15, and a thermoelectric ignition safety valve 13, valve seats 131, 141, and 151 being formed in section 11 of the housing, and actuating members 19-21 for the valves being arranged in cover 12. Valve 13 includes a magnet assembly 16 wired to a thermocouple adapted to be heated by a pilot flame. A gas regulator is formed in housing 10 and on the opposite side of the housing is a projection for the attachment of a water deficiency safety device having a diaphragm and pin which is fractionally connected to the valve tappet of a gas safety valve of the regulator, which tappet passes through a bush 24. A pilot gas filter is connected to section 11 in the proximity of valve 15 and an adjustable pilot gas throttle 25 is provided. In operation, gas passes through port 101 and a filter 17 into a chamber 26, with all valves 13, 14, 15, closed. A push button 191 is depressed which causes push button 211 to be released so that closure member 152 of pilot valve 15 opens, and closure member 132 of valve 13 also is opened so that armature plate 162 engages electromagnet 161 and gas flows into chamber 27. The gas flows through valve 15 to a pilot burner where it is ignited by depressing a push button 181 of a piezoelectric igniter 18. Due to the engagement of the electromagnet, push button 191 can be released. Push button 201 is depressed to lift closure member 142 which is held open by a slider 22 and gas flows into a chamber 28 which communicates with the gas regulator by way of the gas safety valve operated by the water deficiency safety device. The gas then flows to a main burner.
