Abstract

418,194. Centrifugal filters. HADDAN, R., 31, Bedford Street, Strand, London.-(Western States Machine Co. ; Salt Lake City, Utah, U.S.A.) June 25, 1934, No. 18740. [Class 23.] The filter supporting and spacing grid in a centrifugal basket is formed by a metallic sheet 1 with rows of perforations 2 and intervening rows of depressed dome-like bosses 3. The perforations 2 are slightly offset or countersunk to form a shallow stiffening flange, and the apices of the bosses 3 are notched so that they may be adequately drained. One end of the grid has additional perforations in place of bosses to provide an overlap when the grid is in the basket 10. The grid supports a wire mesh 14, a coarsely perforated backing sheet 15<a> and a finely perforated sieve sheet or filter 15b. The bosses space the grid from the basket wall so that clear passages are provided for the flow of liquid to the outlet holes 10<a>. Specification 218,321, [Class 23], is referred to.
