Abstract
417,716. Glasshouses. BARR, J. W. H., South Bersted Nurseries, Bognor Regis, Sussex. March 6, 1933, No. 6800. [Class 20 (i).] A glasshouse, forcing frame, or similar structure, is formed of metal trusses connected together by angle or channel bars, over which the angled edges of the light frames may be hooked so as to be readily removable. The frames are formed of angle uprights 4, 5, connected by roof members 8, 9 which are inclined to each other, the centre joint supporting a channel-iron 13, with inturned edges over which the angled edges 21 of the light frames hook. Further channels are supported at the eaves and form drainage channels, and the side of the house may be formed of inclined frame members 15 having lights at their upper portions and corrugated iron at the bottom portions. The feet of the supports are extended so as to provide a broad bearing surface and are detachably connected to concreted footing plates 18. Removable lights 26 may be used to stop off any bay of the house, and the ends are filled in with glass or metal frames. Intermediate longitudinal supports may be provided where overlapping glass frames are used in the roof.
