Abstract
417,317. Toy boats. MOGENSEN, C. L., 17, Jesper Brochmandsgade, Copenhagen. May 17, 1934, No. 14954. [Class 132 (iii).] A toy vessel has in combination with the hull an exterior compressed air container, a longitudinal recess in the rear bottom end of the hull, and a passage connecting the air container with the recess for the purpose of propelling the vessel by means of the compressed air. In the construction shown, air from the inflated balloon 10 escapes through the twisted neck 14, nozzle 11, conical hole 3, passage 4 and recess 2 to the water, thus propelling the boat 1. The speed of the boat can be adjusted by the degree of twisting of the neck 14 of the balloon, the neck 14 being retained in its adjusted position by the friction between the balloon and the ring 13 of a frame 12. The hull 1 may be solid or hollow and is preferably higher at the stem than at the stern. The upper rear edge of the recess 2 is approximately level with the water surface, the escaping air producing a sound simulating the engine exhaust of a motor boat. The boat is steered by a rudder 5, the tiller 6 of which is retained in any desired position by engaging in recesses 7 in a guide 8, and is continued underneath the boat for a pointed end 9 to engage with the hull.
