Abstract
417,159. Rotary converters. SCHMIDT, K., 88, Kaiser Friedrich Strasse, Lichtenrade, Germany. Nov. 14, 1933, No. 31770. [Class 35.] The rotor of a rotary converter for use in telephone installations is provided with two windings ; one, for converting direct current to alternating calling current of 25 cycles ; the other for generating a signalling current of 150 cycles, the stator poles PI, PII being divided into subpoles p1-p5 to co-operate with the second winding. In the arrangement shown the second winding consists of six sections W1-W6 arranged in slots n near the rotor surface. The subpoles on the same pole are separated by gaps equal to the space between two of the slots n and the space between adjacent subpoles of unlike polarity is twice this space. A further winding for producing a current of three times the frequency of that produced by the windings W1-W6 may be added, the subpoles p1-p5 being grooved to co-operate with this winding. The winding for converting direct current to alternating calling current is arranged in deep slots N in the rotor.
