Abstract
417,134. Driving-chains. KING, D. M., 47, Balmoral Road, Hitchin, Hertfordshire. April 11, 1933, No. 10864. [Class 24.] Chains for use in driving trolleys, endless conveyers, &c. comprise pairs of outer flat links 6 and single inner links 7 slotted at their overlapping ends to take T-headed pins 10 when their heads 11 are disposed parallel tc the slots, the pins being then turned with their heads across the slots and locked in that position. The locking means shown consists of a metal cleat 12 which is passed through the slots in the outer links and bent round the ends of the inner links so as to bear on the ends of the pins and lie in the outer link slots. The slots in the inner links may be closed by filling pieces 13 to prevent undue movement of the inner links in their angular movement during flexing of the chain. An alternative locking means consists in forming only one end of the pins with T-shaped ends, the other end having circular &c. heads which may be connected by riveting &c. to pieces inserted in the corresponding slots in the outer links. To allow for flexing of the chain in a plane perpendicular to the plane of articulation, the inner or outer links or both may be made of spring steel.
