Abstract

416,830. Compound embossed paper, silk, &c. CLEMENS, L., 10A, K÷penickerstrasse, Berlin. Feb. 13, 1934, No. 4735. Convention date, Sept. 16, 1933. [Classes 96 and 140.] Paper is formed into a padding material by uniting alternate smooth and embossed webs with glue, gum &c., applied as spots in a regular pattern to the smooth webs, the various webs, the outer of which are smooth, being passed together between a pair of rolls f, g having the same surface pattern as that of the embossed paper, with the gummed spots registering with one another and with the relief spots on the rolls, at which spots the webs are pressed into contact without flattening the embossed webs which have preferably a ball or waffle pattern and act as cushioning or padding. The outer webs a, b are guided by rollers o, p to the rolls f, g and rolls h, i of gluing mechanism, the rolls h, i also being embossed to the same pattern as the webs c, d which are firmly pressed by rolls m, n into contact with the webs a, b. A smooth spacing web e is glued at spots, as for the webs a, b, on one or both sides by rolls k, l, the compound web leaving the rolls f, g ready for cutting and use. The outer covering webs may be of silk or other textile material.
