Abstract

414,946. Gun - recoil apparatus. MALLENAU, F. MAYER-, 4, Dr. Ludwig Rieger-Strasse, Modling, near Vienna. Dec. 1, 1933, No. 33766. Convention date, Dec. 1, 1932. [Class 92 (i).] To obtain a long recoil path at large angles of elevation without the breech of the gun striking the ground, the limit of run-out movement is automatically displaced forwardly as the elevation of the gun is increased. In the form shown, the barrel is connected by chains or like flexible connecting means K-K<1> on each side of the gun to fixed brackets H-H<1> at points A-A<1> situated above the trunnions Z-Z<1>. During elevation, the chains slacken and the barrel is then moved forwardly by the run-out spring to the limit imposed by the tightening of the chains. The arrangement shown also allows the weight of the gun about the trunnions to be counterbalanced during elevation by the force of the return spring acting through the chains between the gun and the points A-A<1>.
