Abstract
413,935. Automatic smallarms. SCHWEIZERISCHE INDUSTRIE GES., Neuhausen, Schaffhausen, Switzerland. Feb. 28, 1933, No. 32356. Convention date, Feb. 10. Divided on 415,734. [Classes 9 (i) and 119.] A large pivoted or detachable box magazine is adapted to be turned into or placed in a recess in the forestock in a position substantially parallel to the barrel. In the form shown, the magazine bush 9 is hinged at 8 in front of the charging opening and, after being turned into a recess 28 in the stock, is retained by pivoted spring-controlled member 30 which also forms a cover for the charging opening. The member 30 has a short arm 38 which is engaged by a sliding member 37 operated by the safety lever 34 so that, when this lever is turned to the " fire " position, the member 30 is automatically released allowing the magazine to drop into the charging position. In a modification, the magazine bush is fixed, the magazine being removed therefrom and placed in the recess 28 being retained therein by the outer end of the magazine latch 11. Since no cover is then used, a smaller magazine may be placed in the bush when the main magazine is housed.
