Abstract
412,886. Force - feed lubricating. PRUVOT, H. E. N., 30, Rue des Epis, Sotteville-les-Rouen, Seine-Inferieure, France. July 15, 1933, No. 3756/34. Convention date, July 18, 1932. Divided on 412,421. [Class 12 (iii).] A moving part of a machine is lubricated by a lubricator 3 having an accumulator chamber 10 accommodating a spring-pressed piston 11. Oil under pressure is admitted to the cylinder 10 through a pipe 1 and non-return valve 7. The cylinder 10 has a hole 17 through which lubricant escapes when the cylinder is fully charged. A valve housing 19 having a delivery nozzle 27 is secured to the lubricator 3, the valve 21 being held on its seat by a spring 22. The part of the machine to be lubricated, e.g. the small end of a connecting-rod, carries a cup 35 having a cam member 38. When the cup 35, in its reciprocating movement, lies below the nozzle 27, the cam 38 engages a roller 33 on a bell-crank 31, and the valve 21 is opened so that a charge of lubricant passes from the lubricator to the cup 35. The lubricator 3 may have a test screw 5, which, when loosened, allows lubricant to flow through an orifice 6, and the nozzle 27 may have a spring-pressed valve 28. The means for operating the valve 21 may include movementreducing means, such as a pawl and ratchet mechanism, so that the valve 21 is opened once for a definite number of strokes of the cup 35.
