Abstract
411,996. Feeding sheets. THYNE, W., Lochend Works, Abbeyhill, and PIRIE, W. J., 41, Craigentinny Avenue, both in Edinburgh. March 15, 1933, No. 7790. [Class 100 (ii).] Tripping-arrangements.-In connection with a sheet-feeding device fitted with front stops E which are depressed when the front of the sheet is registered, a trip lever A is pivoted near the stops E and is actuated to trip the machine if the sheet is fed beyond the stops E by the time these are raised to registering position. The lever A is fitted with an adjustable stud C which is raised by the crumpled sheet and the sheet guide D when the sheet has passed beyond the stops E, and the lever A is thus moved anticlockwise to bring a knife edge F into engagement with a trip catch G on an arm G<1> fitted to the usual tripping motion of the machine. This arm in the normal working of the machine moves to the position shown in dotted lines, but when it is arrested by the lever A the machine is tripped. A movable rod may replace the oscillating arm G<1>. The lever A is normally raised by a spring K into contact with a screw J which can be adjusted so as to permit its normal position to be varied. The device may be used with front stops which are raised to permit of the feed.
