Abstract
411,789. Discharge rectifiers. SIEMENS - SCHUCKERTWERKE AKT.- GES., Siemensstadt, Berlin. Feb. 5, 1934, No. 3743. Convention date, Feb. 10, 1933. [Class 39 (i).] The ignition anode 6 of a glass rectifier, serves as the exciting anode, and is supplied with continuous current through static contact rectifiers 10, 11 from an auxiliary winding 9 on the main supply transformer 7. For starting, the mercury cathode 5 is brought into contact with the anode 6 by rotating the device about the pivot 14 by means of an armature 13 operated by a coil 12. The resistance of the coil 12 is made comparatively high to ensure that the armature is released to return the device tb its normal position when the mercury is in connection with the ignition anode. Resistances 17, 18 are connected in series with the rectifiers 10, 11.
