[Class 39 (i).] To facilitate the starting of a mercury-vapour rectifier, the container is heated inductively by means of a surrounding coil. The steel anode stems also may be heated by suitably positioning the coil. When the tank reaches a predetermined temperature, the rectifier may be connected automatically to the direct-current bus-bars. The coil may be energized from the main or a separate winding on the supply transformer, or from a separate current source.
