Abstract

410,987. Hair-curling appliances. SCHRAMM, H., 8, Anhalterstrasse, Berlin. July 13, 1933, No. 19862. [Class 131.] In a hair waver or curler of the kind comprising two arms A, C hinged together and each consisting of a length of wire or other pliable material E covered by a soft wrapping, the hinge between the arms is formed by flexible material such as leather, the arm C, which is thicker than the arm A, is provided with an elastic band B adapted to hold the hair during winding, and the arm A is provided with a rubber ring D adapted to be engaged over the end of the arm C so that the wound tress is securely clamped between the arms. As shown, the wire E of the arm C is wrapped with coils of textile thread F covered by a helical layer H of paper, and the two arms are covered by a sleeve K of soft leather, the portion L of which constitutes the hinge. The elastic band B is attached to hooks G on the ends of the wire E and passes through the seam of the sleeve K.
