Abstract
410,445. Centrifugal machines. RAMESOHL & SCHMIDT AKT.-GES., Oelde, Westphalia, Germany. Feb. 9, 1934, No. 4410. Convention date, Oct. 25, 1933. [Class 23.] A centrifugal separator has a drum 1 rotated by means of a hollow shaft 2 which serves as the outlet for the separated liquid. A fixed rod 3 passes through the shaft 2 and carries scrapers or skimmers 4 which extend into the liquid and conduct it to the shaft so that no froth is formed. Where a light component, such as cream, is discharged, it passes through the outlets 14. The hollow shaft 2 is connected through a gland 5 to the discharge tube 6. The gland may be sub-divided into two parts 7, 8 separated by a perforated washer 9 with pipe joints 10, 11. The discharge pipe 6 is provided with a manometer 23 and a cock 12 so that the discharge flow can be adjusted and the quantity of cream, passing through the outlets 14, controlled. The blades of the scrapers 4 may be held between end discs, or they may be tubes at the end of a tube which replaces the rod 3. The casing surrounding the drum 1 has a removable cap 19 which can turn on a hinge 20 at the higher end of the inclined face 21.
