404,588. Counting apparatus. SPREYER, H., 48, Klosterstrasse, Krefeld, WALTER, W., and ABEL, A., 72a, Hansastrasse, Duisburg, both in Germany. Sept. 18, 1933, No. 25793. Convention date, Sept. 17, 1932. [Class 106 (i).] In an electrically driven length measuring machine, when a predetermined length is to be measured off, the carriages 17 are set to the required positions on units, tens, &c., screws 16 driven through magnetic clutches 23. When one carriage reaches its zero position it closes contacts 18, 19 also contacts 20, 21, which latter by means of magnets 22 disengage the clutch 23 driving one screw and engage the clutch 23 driving the next screw 23. When all the contacts 18, 19 are closed the whole machine is stopped.
