Abstract

403,198. Trestles. CAYLESS, C. W., 93, Battersea Park Road, London. Sept. 22, 1932, No. 26342. [Class 52 (v).] A trestle comprises supporting frames 1 and strut frames 5 hinged together at 7, each frame being provided with a pair of cross bars 4 between which the scaffold board is clamped. The scaffold board is passed between the two bars 4 of each pair whilst the frames are folded to lie closely together, and the frames are then opened about the hinge 7 to the position shown, in which the board is gripped. The cross bars comprise bolts 3 threaded through tubular distance pieces. A series of pairs of cross bars are provided on both the supporting frame and the strut frame so that the board can be arranged at different heights. The supporting frames 1 may be inclined away from each other as shown or towards each other, and have reinforcing stays 8 and wooden feet 9. A series of holes may be provided in each frame for selective engagement by the cross bars. The cross bars of each pair may be spaced apart a distance sufficient to receive the board at right angles to the position shown, the crossbars engaging the narrow edges of the board ; with this arrangement a continuous barrier may be formed by a number of boards, the ends of adjacent boards being clamped in one trestle. The cross bars on the supporting frame may be of a different diameter to those of the strut frame, or the effective lengths of the frames may be different so that one frame shall grip the board more firmly than the other.
