Abstract
403,104. Conduits &c. WRIGHT, W. H., 12, Mill Lane, Loughborough. June 10, 1932, No. 16375. [Class 33.] Conduits, sewers, &c. are built up or lined by building up rings of hollow segments or like units of channel section and inserting into, and substantially filling the interior of the segments &c. with preformed blocks of concrete &c. keyed in position other than by grouting ; grouting may be applied in addition. Each arch or ring comprises cast iron &c. segments 10 of channel section, the side flanges of which have ledges 15, the ledges 15 of some or all the segments being cut away as at 16 for the insertion of pre-cast concrete blocks 13<a>, 13<b>, 13<c>; filling pieces 17 may then be inserted in the cut-away parts. Each ring is completed by a key segment 110, key segments of adjacent rings being on opposite sides of the vertical centre of the tunnel ; apertures 22 are provided in the ends of the key segments, through which the end blocks 13<c> may be passed. Grouting is filled in to the spaces between the blocks and segments 10, and in the key segments during or after erection. The blocks may be omitted from segments below road or like level.
