Abstract

402,436. Boxes. ANDREWS, E. S., 329, High Holborn, London.-(Gibson Patent Containers, Ltd. ; 350, George Street, Sydney, Australia.) April 4, 1932, No. 9627. [Class 18.] In a collapsable box or similar container, the body and bottom parts are secured together by interlocking tongues and recesses provided on the respective parts, the recesses being formed by spaced cut-out portions of the side walls of one of the parts. As shown the tongues 23 are formed on the body part T which is formed from a blank secured in tubular form by a flap 13 and has bottom flanges 15, 16 which are notched at their extremities 18, 21 to interlock and reinforce the body part. The bottom part B shown is formed from a cruciform blank having apertures 34 which, when the blank is set up and secured by an outer cover 35, form the spaced recesses with which the tongues 23 engage when the body part is telescoped within the bottom part ; the tongues flare outwards from the body part along the folding lines 17 and spring into the recesses 34. The cover of the box may be made in the same manner as the bottom B but of a slightly different size so that they may be nested for storage purposes, the walls 11, 12 of the body T then being slightly tapered so that the cover and bottom will fit properly ; the box may be of hexagonal, octagonal, circular or other cross-section.
