Abstract
400,173. Oil engines. SOC. ANON. A. SAURER, Arbon, Switzerland. April 12, 1932, No. 10517. Convention date, Jan. 5. [Class 7 (iii).] Liquid fuel is injected into a combustion chamber 6 through an upwardlydirected sprayer 3, and impinges upon an air stream which enters the chamber from the cylinder through one or more upwardly-directed openings 5, the sprayer being set back from the chamber so that the fuel jet is atomized in part before it meets the air stream. The air may enter the combustion chamber tangentially, as shown in the Figure, or it may be directed along the wall of the chamber remote from the sprayer. Alternatively, the air and fuel may enter the chamber centrally. A watercooled spherical chamber may be used. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes a modification in which the chamber 6 is cylindrical. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
