[Class 7 (iii)] A pear-shape combustion chamber A communicating with the cylinder through a tangentially-arranged passage 3. A sparking plug 4 which is located at the smaller end of the chamber is shielded by a baffle 6 from fuel jets directed towards it by an admission device such as a valve-controlled orifice 5. The fuel may be a rich mixture, or it may be injected without air. The construction ensures that a rich charge accumulates in the neighbourhood of the sparking plug.
